With its unique divinyl-terminated structure and phenyl groups, IOTA 252 combines excellent high/low-temperature resistance and electrical insulation with higher refractive index, improved radiation resistance, and better compatibility with organic resins. It is particularly suitable for applications with stringent requirements for optical performance and heat resistance.
IOTA offers four viscosity grades of IOTA 252 to meet varied formulation and process requirements:
| Viscosity (mm²/s) | Refractive Index (20°C) | Vinyl Content (wt%) | Specific Gravity | Appearance | Flash Point (COC, °C) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | 1.50±0.01 | 3.1±1 | 1.05~1.10 | Colorless transparent oily liquid | >100 |
| 1000 | 1.52±0.01 | 1.5±0.2 | 1.05~1.10 | Colorless transparent oily liquid | >150 |
| 3000 | 1.53±0.01 | 0.7±0.1 | 1.05~1.10 | Colorless transparent oily liquid | >200 |
| 5000 | 1.54±0.01 | 0.4±0.1 | 1.05~1.10 | Colorless transparent oily liquid | >200 |
Vinyl Component for Addition-Cure Phenyl Silicone Rubber: Acts as an active chain in addition reactions, serving as a foundational material for high-performance phenyl silicone rubber (e.g., resistant to extreme temperatures and radiation).
Active Diluent for Vinyl Phenyl Silicone Resins: Effectively adjusts system viscosity while maintaining resin reactivity, improving processability.
Intermediate for Specialty Silicone Synthesis: Enables further chemical modifications via its terminal vinyl groups to prepare functionalized silicone polymers.
"The introduction of phenyl groups significantly enhances the polysiloxane's resistance to high and low temperatures and its compatibility with other materials," stated IOTA's R&D Manager. "The IOTA 252 series, with precise control over vinyl content and molecular weight (viscosity), provides downstream customers with key molecular structure control tools for designing and synthesizing addition-cure silicone rubber or resins with specific properties, especially in high-end applications such as optical encapsulation and radiation-resistant sealing."
Packaging: Available in 15 kg and 200 kg coated iron drums.
Storage Recommendations: Store in a cool, ventilated area away from direct sunlight and high temperatures.
