IOTA-611 Single-End Hydride Silicone Oil: Precisely Adjusting Hardness, Modulus, and Elongation – A Molecular-Level Performance Control Tool for Silicone Rubber and Gel

Hits: 363 img

In the formulation design of addition-cure silicone rubber (LSR, RTV-2) and silicone gels, hardness, elongation at break, and modulus are key parameters that determine application boundaries. Traditional double-end or pendant hydride silicone oils often affect both crosslinking density and network structure simultaneously, offering a limited adjustment window. IOTA-611 Single-End Hydride Silicone Oil, with its unique "one inert end, one reactive end" molecular structure, provides a more precise and flexible solution for performance tuning of silicone rubber and gels.

Product Description

IOTA-611 is a polydimethylsiloxane with an inert methyl group at one end and a dimethylsiloxy-terminated structure at the other. It has excellent compatibility with double-end and branched hydride silicone oils and can be used as a modifier for hardness, elongation at break, and modulus in addition-cure silicone rubber and silicone gels.

Product Key Advantages

Application Directions

Application Area Specific Use Core Value
Addition-Cure Silicone Rubber (LSR/RTV-2) Hardness modifier, modulus modifier Reduces crosslinking density – increases softness or toughness
Silicone Gels Elongation at break modifier Controls gel softness and resilience – optimizes tactile feel
Two-Part Addition-Cure Systems Used in combination with double-end hydride silicone oil Fine-tunes crosslinking network – expands performance window

Industry Value

The "single-end reactive" design of IOTA-611 allows it to act as a chain terminator in hydrosilylation reactions. It participates in the crosslinking network but does not introduce additional crosslinking branches. This means formulators can independently adjust hardness and elongation without changing crosslinking density, achieving performance combinations that were previously difficult to realize.

IOTA-611 – One end reactive, one end inert – opening a new dimension for silicone rubber and gel performance design.
